Angry Birds. {365 - Day 37}

Not a bad day for a Monday.  I got to go to the Y this morning for a workout, we had two visits from neighbors, and I cooked a fabulous dinner of lamb chops, whipped cauliflower and roasted Brussels sprouts.  Cheers to the cook!

Our neighbor Sarah came over with her daughter and Sarah Beth's friend Mimi.  Sarah mistakenly pulled out her Nook and SB was immediately intrigued.  Was it a laptop?  Was it an iPhone?  Whatever it was, she had to investigate.  Sarah showed her how to play Angry Birds and SB was hooked.

Kids. {365 - Day 36}

We drove up to Cornelius today to meet our friend Chris and his family for lunch. Kurt and Chris have been friends since they were 18.  He has two great kids who are so sweet with Sarah Beth.  As a surprise, Chris's Dad brought a CD of an old video Kurt and Chris made for college film class 20 years ago.  It was an ode to mountain biking set to music.  Complete with awesome early 90s soundtrack, fanny packs, and bad fashion.  My dear husband had crazy long hair.  It was pure vintage awesomeness. 

After lunch, we stopped by a park for a few minutes until the grown-ups couldn't stand the cold any longer.   SB had a great time running around with the "big kids"and I'm sure didn't even notice the chilly, damp weather.  She always seems to bring her own sunshine with her.

Day 36 {Canon Elph}

Showmars, please. {365 - Day 35}

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit this weekend.  We had a slow morning due to the sleepy, rainy weather, so by the time we were ready to do something it was almost lunchtime.  We asked Sarah Beth what she would like to do today.  She said, "Go to Showmars, please."  How can you turn down such a polite request?  After a quick visit to the Atherton Farmer's Market, we headed to Showmar's on 7th Street.

For those not in the know, Showmars is a local diner-like establishment that has good, inexpensive food and the friendliest employees you will ever find at a restaurant.  Sarah Beth LOVES Showmars.  It's our go-to breakfast spot and whenever SB has lunch dates with Daddy, they usually go to Showmars.  She gets the kids' flounder meal and cleans her plate every time.

The guest photographer today is the nice waitress who offered to take it for us because Kurt's arm wasn't long enough to get us all in the shot by himself.

Bucket Head. {365 - Day 34}

We spent the morning over at our neighbors to take a few more photos of their sweet new baby boy while Sarah Beth played with older brother Gavin .  Trying to take newborn photos with 2 crazy toddlers running around is an experience, for sure.  The baby pictures are precious, of course, but today's photo had to be this:

18 month old Gavin and his bucket hat.  He loves to wear a bucket on his head and run around.  Totally silly.  How can you not love it?  Here's another photo so you can see this silly boy's cute face.

Feeding the Dinosaur. {365 - Day 33}

The groundhog must have been very confused when he poked his head out and it was 70 degrees and sunny.  He must've thought he overslept right into springtime.  The weather has been so lovely this season, that even if 6 more weeks of this "winter" were to come, I'd be ok with that.

We hit Edgehill park today to soak up the sun.  There was no one there when we arrived. After 10 minutes or so, a mom and 2 kids showed up, and Sarah Beth literally chased the older kid down, demanding that he play with her.  Poor kid.  He didn't know what to do.  After she gave up harassing the other park-goers, it was time to feed the dinosaur, of course.

Happy Birthday Daddy {365 - Day 32}

Happy February!  I realize that this year is a leap year, so I'm wondering if I should change my project name to the 366 day project.  Hmmm. 

Today was Kurt's birthday.  We just got back from an amazing and overindulgent dinner at Fiamma with some good friends.  I am so full that I can barely type these words, but I'm going to power through and get this post out before I collapse for the night.

The day started off with Sarah Beth handing out cards to her Daddy and singing "Happy Birthday Cake!" over and over.  Daddy took the day off to hang out with us, so we all went to swim lessons.  Sarah Beth showed off big time for her Daddy, splashing around and screaming "I'm swimming Daddy!" so that everyone at the pool could hear.  After a quick trip to Target, we stopped by Independence Park for some playtime.  I barely got her to sit still enough for this photo with her handsome Daddy.  Happy Birthday Kurt.  We love you!

Birthday Cake! {365 - Day 31}

Holy shmoly, I made it a whole month without missing a day!  I didn't quite realize how much work it would be to post a daily photo, but it's also been a lot of fun.  It makes me notice how quickly a day goes by and then it's gone.  All we have left is the memory and maybe a photo or two.  I already know that the photo album I create of these daily photos is going to be one of my most favorite things.

On to today's photo.  Tomorrow is my husband Kurt's Birthday.  And when there's a birthday, there must be cake.  So Sarah Beth and I got busy.  She is an excellent helper, especially when it comes to tasting frosting.  Or is it icing?  Whatever you call it, SB was on top of it.  I let her "test" the cream cheese before tossing it in the mixer.  She wholeheartedly approved.
